• Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.
• For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
• Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
• Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.

Assay Information:
Immunoelectrophoresis produced a single precipitin arc against anti-rabbit serum, purified and partially purified Glutamate Dehydrogenase (Bovine Liver).
BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with mitochondrial and brain isoforms (GDH1 and GDH2) from both bovine and human sources.
Similar reactivity is observed in primates (green monkey, white gibbon, chimpanzee, orangutan, gorilla) and other mammals (chicken, mouse, rat, dog), as well as species such as Xenopus tropicalis, zebrafish, rainbow trout, and Atlantic salmon.
Cross-reactivity with other tissues and species may occur but has not been specifically determined.

Target Information

Glutamate dehydrogenase (GluD1) is a mitochondrial matrix enzyme that catalyzes the oxidative deamination of glutamate to alpha-ketoglutarate and ammonia.
It plays a key role in regulating amino acid-induced insulin secretion and is allosterically activated by ADP and inhibited by GTP and ATP.
Activating mutations in this gene are linked to congenital hyperinsulinism.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
The related Glutamate dehydrogenase 2 gene on the human X-chromosome encodes a soluble form of the enzyme.
Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 10, 18, and X.
