Product Specific Information
Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
The Myogenic determination gene (MyoD) was first identified by its ability to convert embryonic mouse fibroblast cells to muscle cells. Forced expression of MyoD (human homolog is myf3) in various normal and neoplastic cells can induce muscle cell conversion or activate muscle-specific genes.
The regulatory domain of MyoD contains a 70 amino acid region with a basic DNA-binding motif and a helix-loop-helix (HLH) dimerization motif.
Three other genes share sequence homology with the basic HLH domain of MyoD: myf5, myogenin (myf4), and myf6 (MRF4/herculin).
