Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
The Myogenic determination gene (MyoD) was first identified by its ability to convert embryonic mouse fibroblast cells to muscle cells. Forced expression of MyoD (human homolog is myf3) in various normal and neoplastic cells can induce muscle cell formation or activate muscle-specific genes.
The regulatory domain of the MyoD protein includes a 70 amino acid region with a basic DNA binding motif and a helix-loop-helix (HLH) dimerization motif. Other homologous genes with similar HLH domains include myf5, myogenin (myf4), and myf6 (MRF4/herculin).
