This antibody detects endogenous levels of Caspase 8 only when phosphorylated at Tyr380.

Target Information

Caspase 8 (CASP8) is a cysteine-aspartic acid protease involved in apoptosis. It exists as an inactive proenzyme composed of a pro-domain, a large protease subunit, and a small protease subunit. Activation requires proteolytic processing at internal aspartic residues, resulting in a heterodimeric enzyme. Caspase 8 mediates programmed cell death induced by Fas and other apoptotic stimuli and interacts with FADD through death effector domains (DED). It plays roles in neurodegenerative diseases such as Huntington’s disease and triggers downstream caspases including Caspase 9, committing cells to apoptosis. Overexpression induces apoptosis, which can be inhibited by ICE family inhibitors. Multiple alternatively spliced variants exist.
