Typically negligible cross-reactivity against other collagen types was detected by ELISA using purified standards.
This antibody reacts with most mammalian Type VI collagens and shows negligible cross-reactivity with Type I, II, III, IV, and V collagens.
Non-specific cross-reaction with other human serum or extracellular matrix proteins is negligible.
Target Information
The COL gene family encodes various collagen chains, including fibril-forming interstitial collagens (types I, II, III, V) and basement membrane collagen (type IV).
Collagens are fibrous extracellular matrix proteins with high tensile strength and are major components of connective tissues such as tendons and cartilage.
They contain a triple helix domain and often self-associate laterally to form complex tissue structures.
Some collagens also participate in cell adhesion, maintaining tissue architecture and function.
