Product Specific Information

This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, mouse, porcine, and rat based on sequence homology.

Target Information

Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes like arthritis and metastasis.
Most MMPs are secreted as inactive proproteins that are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases.
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the membrane-type MMP (MT-MMP) subfamily, containing a potential transmembrane domain suggesting expression at the cell surface.
This protein activates MMP2, which may contribute to tumor invasion.
