Product Specific Information

This antibody was cross-adsorbed to phospho-tyrosine coupled to agarose and to phospho-c-Abl (Tyr-245) peptide before affinity purification using phospho-c-Abl (Tyr-412) peptide.
On SDS-PAGE immunoblots of K-562 treated with pervanadate, the antibody detects a 145 kDa protein corresponding to c-Abl and a 210 kDa band corresponding to BCR-Abl.

Target Information

The ABL1 proto-oncogene encodes a cytoplasmic and nuclear protein tyrosine kinase involved in cell differentiation, division, adhesion, and stress response.
Activity of c-Abl protein is negatively regulated by its SH3 domain; deletion of this domain converts c-Abl into an oncogene.
The DNA-binding activity of ABL1 is regulated by CDC2-mediated phosphorylation, indicating a role in the cell cycle.
In chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) and some acute lymphoblastic leukemias (ALL), a (9;22) chromosomal translocation forms the Philadelphia chromosome, resulting in the BCR-Abl fusion protein.
c-Abl also participates in DNA repair and can activate proapoptotic pathways when DNA damage is irreparable.
