Product Specific Information

The eBio13A antibody reacts with mouse IL-13, a cytokine produced mainly by Th2 cells and antigen-primed CD8 T cells. IL-13 is involved in allergic inflammation, parasitic clearance, and cancer models where it may have inhibitory or stimulatory effects depending on the tumor type. In humans, IL-13 plays a role in B cell isotype switching and modulates macrophage activity by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, and IL-12.

Applications Reported: Suitable for intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested on Th2 polarized mouse splenocytes; optimal performance at ≤0.25 µg/test. A test is defined as staining a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL, with cell numbers ranging from 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Antibody titration is recommended for assay optimization.

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells. It regulates inflammatory and immune responses by down-regulating macrophage activity and inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokine production. IL-13 is implicated in allergen-induced asthma through IgE-independent mechanisms and influences B cell maturation, differentiation, and IgE isotype switching. Structurally, IL-13 resembles IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, and GM-CSF. The IL-13 gene is located on chromosome 5q within a cytokine gene cluster near IL4.
