Target Information
Histones are basic nuclear proteins responsible for nucleosome structure in eukaryotic chromatin. Nucleosomes, composed of DNA wrapped around histone octamers (H2A, H2B, H3, H4), compact DNA and regulate its accessibility.
Histones play key roles in transcription regulation, DNA repair, replication, and chromosomal stability. H2B also exhibits broad antibacterial activity.
