Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous IRS-1 protein at molecular weights of approximately 132 and 180 kDa.
Purity is >95% by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

IRS-1 (Insulin Receptor Substrate 1) is a major substrate of the insulin receptor and is phosphorylated in response to insulin, IGF-1, and IL-4 stimulation. It undergoes phosphorylation on serine, threonine, and tyrosine residues across various tissues. Casein kinase II mediates part of the insulin-stimulated serine/threonine phosphorylation of IRS-1. Identified phosphorylation sites include Thr 502 (major site) and Ser 99 (additional site) in rat IRS-1.
IRS-1 contains three putative binding sites for 14-3-3 proteins (Ser 270, Ser 374, Ser 641), with the Ser 270 motif located in the phosphotyrosine-binding domain responsible for interaction with the insulin receptor.
