This antibody is predicted to react with non-human primate and rabbit based on sequence homology.
Intact IgG appears on a non-reducing gel as ~150 kDa band and upon reduction generates a ~25 kDa light chain band and a ~50 kDa heavy chain.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information

S100B is a member of the S100 family of proteins containing two EF-hand calcium-binding motifs.
S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells and are involved in regulating cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation.

S100B may function in:

• Neurite extension
• Proliferation of melanoma cells
• Stimulation of Ca²⁺ fluxes
• Inhibition of PKC-mediated phosphorylation
• Astrocytosis and axonal proliferation
• Inhibition of microtubule assembly

Chromosomal rearrangements and altered expression of this gene have been implicated in diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Down’s syndrome, epilepsy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, melanoma, and type I diabetes.
