Product Specific Information

The EBVCS2 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD23, a 45 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein. CD23 is expressed on mature B cells, mantle zone B cells, follicular dendritic cells, and at low levels on T cells, NK cells, Langerhans cells, and platelets. Expression is upregulated upon B cell activation, and soluble forms of CD23 are biologically active.

CD23 serves as a low-affinity receptor for IgE and is involved in IgE response regulation and B cell activation. It interacts with CD21 and the alpha subunit of CD11b/CD11c.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry (frozen tissue sections).
Applications Tested: Flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended ≤ 0.5 µg/test in 100 µL final volume. Cell number should be empirically determined (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Titration is advised for optimal performance.

Target Information

CD23 is a 45 kDa glycoprotein expressed on subsets of peripheral blood and tonsil B cells and strongly on EBV-transformed B lymphoblasts. It is identical to the low-affinity IgE receptor (FcεRII) on B cells. CD23 expression is found in neoplastic B cells from chronic lymphocytic leukemia and some lymphomas. Functionally, CD23 is involved in B cell growth, differentiation, and IgE production, with a soluble form acting as a potent mitogenic factor. Dysregulation of CD23 is linked to chronic conjunctivitis and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
