Target Information
STING (TMEM173) is a 379 amino acid signaling protein that plays a key role in innate immune signaling. It activates NF-kappa-B and IRF3 transcription pathways, inducing type I interferons (IFN-alpha, IFN-beta) and promoting antiviral responses. STING may also function in translocon activity and apoptotic signal transduction through MHC-II association. It is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed in most tissues.
