Target Information
STING is a 379 amino acid signaling protein that plays a key role in innate immune signaling. It activates NF-kappa-B and IRF3 transcription pathways, inducing type I interferon expression (IFN-alpha and IFN-beta) and promoting antiviral responses. STING may also function as a translocon and is involved in apoptotic signaling via MHC-II association. It is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is expressed ubiquitously across tissues.
