Product Specific Information
- In direct ELISAs, approximately 50% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse Artemin is observed.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of the antibody (LAL method).
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) family of ligands, which belong to the TGF-beta superfamily of signaling molecules.
GDNFs possess neurotrophic properties and have potential applications in gene therapy for neurodegenerative diseases.
Artemin supports the survival of several peripheral neuron populations and at least one dopaminergic CNS neuron population.
Its expression pattern near these neurons supports its role in both PNS and CNS.
Artemin acts as a ligand for the RET receptor and uses GFR-alpha 3 as a coreceptor.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms of this gene have been identified.
