Target Information

CRTH2 (GPR44) is a chemoattractant receptor-homologous molecule expressed on Th2 cells that acts as a receptor for prostaglandin D2 (PGD2). It mediates chemotaxis of Th2 cells and eosinophils toward PGD2, playing a key role in allergic responses. Interestingly, CRTH2-deficient mice show enhanced eosinophil recruitment and elevated IL-5 and IL-3 production, suggesting CRTH2 restricts eosinophilia and allergic inflammation.
CRTH2 is a member of the G protein-coupled leukocyte chemoattractant receptor family, selectively expressed in Th2 but not Th1 cells. It is found in the central nervous system and peripheral tissues, particularly in activated Th2 cells. Two transcripts (3.5 kb and 3.4 kb) have been identified, showing tissue-specific expression patterns. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in its 3' UTR are associated with asthma susceptibility.
