Product Specific Information
Reconstitution: Add 25 µL, 50 µL, or 0.2 mL of double distilled water (DDW) depending on sample size.
The antibody ships as a lyophilized powder at room temperature. Upon arrival, store at -20°C.
Reconstituted solution can be stored at 4°C for up to 1 week. For longer storage, aliquot and keep at -20°C.
Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles. Centrifuge all antibody preparations before use (10,000 × g, 5 min).
Target Information
The sodium channel protein type 8 subunit alpha (NaV1.6, SCN8A) is a multi-pass transmembrane protein mediating sodium ion permeability of excitable membranes.
Voltage-gated sodium channels consist of a pore-forming alpha subunit and two beta subunits (beta1 and beta2).
Beta subunits regulate channel expression, modulate gating, and function as cell adhesion molecules.
Alpha subunits of types I and III are mainly expressed in neuronal cell bodies and proximal processes, while type II alpha subunits are more abundant along axons.
Sodium channels are essential for rapid signal transduction and neuronal development.
Defects in the SCN8A gene can lead to impaired motoneuron growth, paralysis, and early death.
