Target Information

ACCN1 encodes a member of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (DEG/ENaC) superfamily. These are amiloride-sensitive sodium channels with intracellular N and C termini, two hydrophobic transmembrane regions, and a large extracellular loop containing conserved cysteine residues. This protein may play a role in neurotransmission. A heteromeric association with ACCN3 (variant 1) has been observed, forming proton-gated channels sensitive to gadolinium.
