Target Information

MAPK8 (JNK1) is activated by misfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum and is a key mediator of insulin resistance and obesity.
It belongs to the MAPK superfamily of stress-activated protein kinases, which mediate signal transduction from the cell surface to the nucleus.
JNK participates in cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, transcription regulation, and development.
JNK pathways are activated by stress and inflammatory signals, with ten isoforms expressed due to differential mRNA splicing; the predominant forms are JNK1 and JNK2.
