SOX17 (transcription factor SOX-17)은 SRY-related HMB box 계열의 전사 인자로, 표적 프로모터 DNA에 결합하여 DNA를 굽히는 기능을 합니다.
5'-AACAAT-3' 또는 5'-AACAAAG-3' 서열에 결합하며, WNT3A를 통해 전사 조절을 매개하고 Wnt 신호를 억제합니다.
활성화된 CTNNB1의 분해를 촉진하며, 배아 발달 조절에 필수적입니다.
SOX17은 심장관의 정상 루핑과 장내배엽 발달에 필요하며, 유전자 돌연변이는 방광요관역류(vesicoureteral reflux)를 유발할 수 있습니다.
