Target Information

MAPK8 (JNK1) is activated by misfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum and plays a key role in insulin resistance and obesity.
It belongs to the MAPK superfamily of stress-activated protein kinases, which mediate signal transduction from the cell surface to the nucleus in response to extracellular stimuli.
JNK is involved in processes such as proliferation, differentiation, transcription regulation, and development.
JNK pathways are activated by stress and inflammatory signals, and JNK is expressed as ten isoforms due to differential mRNA splicing, with JNK1 and JNK2 being predominant.
