Product Specific Information
The APB5 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD140b molecule, the beta chain of the platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGF receptor). PDGFRβ is a receptor tyrosine kinase that forms dimers upon ligand binding and phosphorylates substrates. Dimers may be alpha/alpha, beta/beta, or alpha/beta heterodimers, serving as substrates for kinase activity. CD140b is expressed in embryonic tissues and mesenchymal-derived adult mouse cells. PDGFRβ plays a significant role in the formation of fibrous atherosclerotic lesions.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometry on NIH/3T3 cells. Recommended ≤1.0 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Optimize concentration for best performance.

Target Information
PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for mesenchymal-origin cells. Ligand binding determines receptor dimerization (homodimer or heterodimer of PDGFRα/β). The gene is located on chromosome 5, near GM-CSF and M-CSF receptor genes, possibly linked to the 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB and ETV6 results in chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
