Product Specific Information

Description:
The monoclonal antibody DM1A recognizes the 50 kDa cytoskeletal protein alpha tubulin in various species including human, mouse, rat, monkey, dog, pig, bovine, goat, hamster, guinea pig, kangaroo, amphibians, sea urchin, yeast, and tobacco plants. Tubulin is the major component of microtubules and forms a dimeric protein with alpha and beta subunits. It is a GTP-binding protein that can be modified by phosphorylation and acetylation, influencing polymerization and depolymerization. The DM1A antibody recognizes the C-terminal end of the alpha tubulin isoform (amino acids 426–430).

Applications Reported:
This DM1A antibody is reported for use in immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections.

Applications Tested:
Tested by immunofluorescent staining of paraformaldehyde-fixed and permeabilized cells. Recommended usage ≤10 µg/mL. Optimization by titration is advised for best performance.

Filtration:
0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

Alpha Tubulin forms a heterodimer with beta tubulin, each approximately 55 kDa, serving as the fundamental building block of microtubules. These cylindrical filamentous structures are essential components of the eukaryotic cytoskeleton, providing structural support, intracellular transport, and playing a key role in mitosis. Multiple alpha and beta tubulin genes are conserved across species. The alpha tubulin gene is highly homologous to the mouse and rat Tuba1 gene, with expression predominantly in differentiated neuronal cells.
