The monoclonal antibody 5UCLNT3 recognizes mouse and rat Trefoil Factor 3 (TFF3), a member of the trefoil family characterized by a 40-amino acid domain with three conserved disulfide bonds. TFF3 is secreted by mucus-producing and epithelial cells across various tissues such as the gastrointestinal tract, kidney, and breast. It plays a critical role in mucosal surface maintenance and restitution by inhibiting apoptosis and promoting epithelial cell survival and migration. TFF3 also contributes to airway epithelial differentiation and serves as a biomarker for renal tubular injury. Additionally, it may be involved in breast tumor progression and dissemination.
Applications Reported: Western blotting and immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
Applications Tested: Tested by IHC on rat and mouse tissue using low pH antigen retrieval at ≤5 µg/mL; titration recommended for optimal results.
Target Information
Trefoil peptides are protease-resistant molecules secreted in the gut, involved in mucosal healing. They contain three intrachain disulfide bonds forming the trefoil motif, located on human chromosome 21q22.3. Trefoil Factor 3 (TFF3) is secreted by epithelial cells of the intestines and respiratory tract, primarily as a disulfide-linked homodimer. It promotes cell migration during healing and contributes to intestinal mucosa repair and maintenance.
