Target Information
TCEAL1 (Transcription Elongation Factor A (SII) Protein 3)
Also known as p21, SIIR, or pp21, TCEAL1 is a member of the TFS-II family. These transcription elongation factors release RNA polymerase II (Pol II) from transcriptional arrest caused by DNA arresting sites. By activating the intrinsic RNA cleavage activity of RNA polymerase, they enable the polymerase to cleave the nascent transcript and resume elongation.
TCEAL1 is a 157-amino-acid nuclear protein that is ubiquitously expressed and may function through protein-protein interactions with transcriptional regulators rather than direct DNA binding.
