Target Information
TCEAL1 (transcription elongation factor A (SII) protein 3), also known as p21, SIIR or pp21, is a member of the TFS-II family. Transcription elongation factors of this family release RNA polymerase II (Pol II) from transcriptional arrest. When elongating RNA polymerases are trapped at DNA arresting sites, TCEAL1 helps activate intrinsic RNA cleavage activity, allowing Pol II to resume elongation.
TCEAL1 is a 157 amino acid nuclear protein expressed ubiquitously and may function through protein-protein interactions with transcriptional regulators rather than direct DNA binding.
