Target Information
This gene encodes an activating transcription factor, which belongs to the ATF subfamily and bZIP (basic-region leucine zipper) family. It regulates downstream target genes involved in growth, survival, and other cellular activities. The protein is phosphorylated at serine 63 by various kinases, enhancing its transcriptional activity and contributing to cell transformation. Gene fusions with FUS (chromosome 16) or EWSR1 (chromosome 22) generate chimeric proteins implicated in angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma and clear cell sarcoma. A pseudogene exists on chromosome 6.
