Target Information
Tyrosine phosphorylation plays a critical role in mitogenic signal transduction from transmembrane receptors and in transformation by oncogene tyrosine kinases. Phosphorylation of specific tyrosine residues is a key mechanism in normal mitogenesis, cell cycle progression, and oncogenic transformation, and continues to be studied in differentiation and gap junction communication.
Antibodies that specifically recognize phosphorylated tyrosine residues, such as clone pY20, are invaluable tools for studying tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins and related biochemical pathways. The fluorescein (FITC) conjugate of clone pY20 is particularly useful for detecting phosphotyrosine-containing proteins in immunohistochemical and immunocytochemical protocols where secondary antibody use may complicate detection.
