This antibody detects endogenous levels of E-cadherin only when phosphorylated at Ser844.

Target Information

E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a classical cadherin belonging to the calcium-dependent adhesion protein superfamily. It is a glycoprotein composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. Mutations in the CDH1 gene encoding E-cadherin are associated with various cancers, including gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian cancers. Loss of E-cadherin function contributes to tumor progression by promoting proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. The ectodomain mediates bacterial adhesion to mammalian cells, while the cytoplasmic domain is required for internalization. Reduction or loss of E-cadherin expression correlates with increased tumor invasiveness and metastatic potential. In humans, E-cadherin is encoded by the CDH1 gene located on chromosome 16.
