Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of GRK1/2 only when phosphorylated at Tyr13.
Target Information
The sensation of sight is the result of a cascade of events starting with the interaction of photoactivated rhodopsin with a protein called transducin. Rhodopsin kinase (GRK1) is a G-protein-coupled Ser/Thr kinase that regulates this cascade. Following phosphorylation by GRK1, arrestin binds to phospho-rhodopsin, preventing further interaction with transducin and quenching phototransduction activity. By terminating the phototransduction cycle, GRK1 plays a critical role in resetting the visual system for subsequent light responses.
