Target Information

The CCR9 protein is a member of the beta chemokine receptor family and a predicted seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor. Chemokines and their receptors regulate thymocyte migration and maturation under normal and inflammatory conditions.
Its specific ligand is CCL25, and expression is differentiated in T lymphocytes of the small intestine and colon. CCR9 plays a role in thymocyte recruitment and immune specialization along the gastrointestinal tract.
This gene is located in the chemokine receptor gene cluster region, with two alternatively spliced transcript variants described.
