Description:
The HIB19 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD19, a 95 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on B cells throughout development, excluding terminally differentiated plasma cells. Follicular dendritic cells also express CD19. CD19 forms a multimolecular complex with CD21, CD81, Leu13, and MHC class II, associated with the B cell receptor (BCR). Signaling through CD19 induces tyrosine phosphorylation, calcium flux, and proliferation of B cells. The SJ25C1 and HIB19 antibodies recognize overlapping epitopes.

Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number can range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

CD19 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily with two Ig-like domains. It is expressed on 100% of peripheral B cells and may be found on some myeloid leukemia cells. CD19 serves as a critical regulator of normal and malignant B cell proliferation and is expressed in all B cell precursor leukemias. It functions as a signal-amplifying co-receptor for the B cell receptor (BCR) and can signal independently. Mutations in CD19 can lead to hypogammaglobulinemia, while overexpression may cause B cell hyperactivity.
