Product Specific Information
- In sandwich ELISAs, less than 3% cross-reactivity with recombinant human CNTF is observed.
- Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level is <1.0 EU per 1 µg of antibody (LAL method).
Target Information
The CNTF protein is a polypeptide hormone primarily active in the nervous system, promoting neurotransmitter synthesis and neurite outgrowth in specific neuronal populations. It acts as a potent survival factor for neurons and oligodendrocytes, potentially reducing tissue destruction during inflammatory events.
Mutations causing aberrant splicing lead to CNTF deficiency but are not directly linked to neurologic disease. A read-through transcript variant combining ZFP91 and CNTF sequences has been observed but is considered non-coding.
