This antibody detects endogenous levels of IREB1 only when phosphorylated at Ser711.
Target Information
Aconitase 1 (ACO1), also known as iron regulatory element binding protein 1 (IREB1), is a cytosolic protein that binds to iron-responsive elements (IREs) and plays a central role in cellular iron homeostasis. It also exhibits aconitase activity and belongs to the aconitase enzyme family. IREs are stem-loop structures located in the 5′ UTR of ferritin mRNA and the 3′ UTR of transferrin receptor mRNA. Iron-induced binding to IRE represses ferritin translation and stabilizes transferrin receptor mRNA, thereby regulating iron metabolism.
