This antibody detects endogenous levels of Integrin beta 4 only when phosphorylated at Thr1487.
Target Information
Integrins are heterodimers composed of alpha and beta subunits that form transmembrane glycoprotein receptors. Different combinations of alpha and beta polypeptides result in complexes with varied ligand-binding specificities. Integrins mediate cell-matrix and cell-cell adhesion, and transduce signals that regulate gene expression and cell growth.
The integrin beta 4 subunit acts as a receptor for laminins, commonly associating with the alpha 6 subunit. It plays a pivotal role in invasive carcinoma biology. Mutations in this gene are linked to epidermolysis bullosa with pyloric atresia. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
