Target Information
NRAS (GTPase NRas) is a membrane-associated protein that cycles between the Golgi apparatus and the plasma membrane. This process is regulated by palmitoylation and depalmitoylation via the ZDHHC9-GOLGA7 complex. NRAS possesses intrinsic GTPase activity and functions as a molecular switch, being activated to a GTP-bound form by GTPase activating proteins and inactivated to a GDP-bound form by guanine nucleotide-exchange factors. Mutations in the NRAS gene are associated with juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML) and Noonan syndrome 6.
