Product Specific Information
PA1-068 detects coatomer-protein I beta (COPI beta) from rat cells.
This antibody has been successfully used in Western blot procedures.
By Western blot, it detects an approximately 115 kDa protein representing COP beta from PC-12 cell extract.
A non-specific band at ~100 kDa may also be observed.
PA1-068 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues K(494) V L A A Q E T H E G V T E D G I E(511) of rat beta-COP.
The immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-126) is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.
Target Information
This gene encodes a protein subunit of the coatomer complex associated with non-clathrin coated vesicles.
The coatomer complex (coat protein complex I, COPI) forms in the cytoplasm and is recruited to the Golgi by activated guanosine triphosphatases (GTPases).
At the Golgi membrane, the coatomer complex assists in the retrograde transport of proteins and lipids to the endoplasmic reticulum.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
