Target Information
CEACAM1 (Carcinoembryonic Antigen-Related Cell Adhesion Molecule 1) is a member of the CEA gene family within the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is located on chromosome 19 and includes both functional genes and pseudogenes. Originally identified in bile ducts as a biliary glycoprotein, CEACAM1 functions as a cell adhesion molecule expressed on leukocytes, epithelial, and endothelial cells.
This protein mediates cell adhesion through both homophilic and heterophilic interactions, contributing to tissue organization, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis regulation, and immune response modulation. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been reported.
