Description:
Interleukin-17A (IL-17A) is a CD4+ T cell-derived cytokine that promotes inflammatory responses and is elevated in rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, and transplant rejection. It exists as glycosylated 20–30 kDa homodimers and enhances expression of ICAM-1 in fibroblasts. IL-17A stimulates epithelial, endothelial, or fibroblastic cells to secrete IL-6, IL-8, G-CSF, and PGE₂. Mouse, rat, and human IL-17A can induce IL-6 secretion in mouse stromal cells, showing cross-species receptor recognition.

Applications Reported:
Recombinant mouse IL-17A is biologically active and promotes IL-6 production in vitro. Useful as ELISA standard.

Applications Tested:
Tested as standard in mouse IL-17 sandwich ELISA and bioassay for IL-6 induction by NIH/3T3 cells.
ED₅₀ = 3.0 ng/mL (specific activity: 3.3 × 10⁵ Units/mg).

Interleukin-17A (IL-17A, CTLA-8) is a CD4+ T cell-derived cytokine that promotes inflammatory responses and is elevated in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. It is a 32 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer of 136 amino acids, signaling through IL-17 receptor (IL-17R/CDw217). IL-17A enhances ICAM-1 expression and stimulates secretion of IL-6, IL-8, G-CSF, and PGE₂. It regulates NF-κB and MAPK pathways, induces COX-2 expression, and promotes nitric oxide production.
