Product Specific Information

The polyclonal antibody reacts with both mouse and rat SDF-1 alpha. It was generated using E. coli-expressed N-terminal amino acids 20–89 of mouse SDF-1 alpha as an immunogen.
SDF-1 alpha (stromal cell-derived factor-1 alpha), also known as pre-B-cell growth-stimulating factor (PBSF), is a 70-amino acid CXC chemokine originally cloned from a bone marrow stromal cell line. Targeted deletion of the SDF-1 gene results in defects of B-cell lymphopoiesis and bone marrow myelopoiesis. SDF-1 is chemotactic for lymphocytes and acts as a ligand for CXCR4 (LESTR/fusin), a co-receptor for HIV-1 entry into T cells. Binding of SDF-1 to CXCR4 inhibits HIV-1 entry.

Applications Reported: Immunoblotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunohistochemistry (IHC).
Cross-reactivity to other species’ SDF-1 alpha has not been determined.

Target Information

CXCL12 is a stromal cell-derived alpha chemokine belonging to the intercrine family. Together with its receptor CXCR4, it activates lymphocytes and is implicated in cancer metastasis (e.g., breast cancer). Mutations in CXCL12 are associated with resistance to HIV-1 infection. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms are known.
