OPRD1 (Opioid Receptor Delta 1)
OPRD1 is an opioid receptor involved in the regulation of anxiety, depression, and pain. It is a potential therapeutic target for mood disorders and drug addiction. Delta and kappa opioid receptors can form heterodimers with synergistic effects.
- High expression: Cortex, caudate, hippocampus, nucleus accumbens, putamen
- Low expression: Cerebellum, hypothalamus, substantia nigra, thalamus
- Reduced expression: Putamen and amygdala in Alzheimer’s disease, putamen in Parkinson’s disease
