Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues: Heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
CD103 (ITGAE, Integrin alpha E) is expressed on mucosa-associated T lymphocytes and activated cells, as well as a subset of TGF-β1 cells. It consists of a 150 kDa alpha chain and a 120 kDa beta chain.
CD103 is expressed by 0.5–2% of resting lymphocytes in peripheral blood and lymphoid organs, staining a few bone marrow cells and rarely peripheral blood lymphocytes.
As part of the integrin family, CD103 forms a heterodimeric complex with the beta 7 integrin, producing the E-cadherin-binding integrin known as the human mucosal lymphocyte-1 antigen.
It is preferentially expressed in human intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes (IEL) and may function in adhesion and IEL activation.
CD103 dysfunction is associated with diseases such as hairy cell leukemia and splenic marginal zone lymphoma.
