Target Information
The Ca²⁺/calmodulin-dependent protein kinases (CaM kinases) form a subfamily of serine/threonine kinases including CaMKI, CaMKII, and CaMKIV.
CaMKII is a ubiquitously expressed serine/threonine kinase activated by Ca²⁺ and calmodulin (CaM), implicated in cell cycle and transcription regulation.
There are four CaMKII isozymes—alpha, beta, gamma, and delta—which may or may not be coexpressed in the same tissue type.
CaMKIV requires Ca²⁺/CaM stimulation and phosphorylation by a CaMK for full activation.
