Product Specific Information

This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits, followed by screening to select optimal clones for production.

Advantages include:

  • Better specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulation
  • Broader immunoreactivity due to larger rabbit immune repertoire

This antibody has specificity for Human CD59.

Target Information

CD59 (Protectin) is a small (18–20 kDa) GPI-anchored, ubiquitously expressed inhibitor of the membrane attack complex (MAC).
It plays a key role in protecting autologous cells from complement-mediated lysis by binding complement C8 and/or C9, preventing formation of the cytolytic pore.
CD59 also functions as a low-affinity ligand of human CD2, contributing to T cell costimulation and lymphocyte signal transduction.
Mutations in this gene cause CD59 deficiency, associated with hemolytic anemia, thrombosis, and cerebral infarction.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants of CD59 have been identified.
