Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

This antibody has specificity for Human CD63.

Target Information

CD63 (also known as LAMP-3, lysosome-associated membrane protein-3) is a glycoprotein of the tetraspanin family located in late endosomes, lysosomes, and secretory vesicles of various cell types. It is also present in the plasma membrane following cell activation and serves as a widely used basophil activation marker.

In mast cells, CD63 expression does not necessarily require activation. CD63 interacts with integrins, influences phagocytosis and cell migration, and participates in the regulation of H/K-ATPase and ROMK1 channel trafficking. It also functions as a T-cell co-stimulation molecule.

CD63 expression can be used as a prognostic marker in early-stage carcinomas. It is expressed on activated platelets, monocytes, and macrophages, and weakly on granulocytes, B, and T cells. CD63 is identical to the melanoma-associated antigen ME491 and platelet antigen PTLGP40. Dysfunction of CD63 is associated with melanoma and Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome.
