• Recommended positive controls: muscle fibroblasts
• Neutralization: when used at 1–3 µg/mL, the antibody blocks 50% of the binding of 30 ng/mL recombinant human activin A to immobilized recombinant human activin receptor IIA/Fc chimera (100 µL of a 0.5 µg/mL solution coating each well) in a functional ELISA assay.

Target Information

Activin A receptor kinase (ACVR2A) is a type II receptor in the TGF-beta family of receptor serine/threonine kinases.
ACVR2A is involved in activin and myostatin signaling pathways.
Aliases: ACVR2, ACTRII.

These receptors are transmembrane proteins composed of:

• Ligand-binding extracellular domain with cysteine-rich region
• Transmembrane domain
• Cytoplasmic domain with serine/threonine kinase specificity

Type I receptors are essential for signaling, while type II receptors bind ligands and enable type I receptor expression.
Upon ligand binding, type I and II receptors form a stable complex, leading to phosphorylation of type I receptors by type II receptors.
Type II receptors are constitutively active kinases.
