Target Information
CXCL12 is a stromal cell-derived alpha chemokine belonging to the intercrine family. Together with its receptor CXCR4, it activates lymphocytes and is implicated in metastasis of certain cancers such as breast cancer. Mutations in this gene are associated with resistance to HIV-1 infection. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
