Description:
The monoclonal antibody CF-145 recognizes human S100A8, also known as migration inhibitory factor-related protein 8 (MRP-8) or Calgranulin-A. S100A8 is a calcium-binding protein belonging to the S100 family, expressed by neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages, granulocytes, and epithelial cells during dermatoses such as psoriasis.
It forms a heterodimer with S100A9 (calprotectin) and exhibits antimicrobial, pro-apoptotic, and pro-inflammatory properties. Elevated S100A8 levels are associated with inflammatory disorders (cystic fibrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic bronchitis) and various tumors (skin, breast, colon, pancreatic, ovarian cancers).

Applications Reported:

• Western blotting
• Immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections

Applications Tested:

• IHC (P): ≤1 µg/mL using low pH antigen retrieval
• WB: ≤5 µg/mL using A375 cell lysate
  It is recommended to titrate the antibody for optimal performance.

Target Information

The S100A8 gene encodes a member of the S100 protein family with two EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. These proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus and regulate cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation.
S100 genes form a cluster on chromosome 1q21. This protein may inhibit casein kinase and act as a cytokine. Altered expression is associated with cystic fibrosis.
