Target Information

KCNK3 encodes a member of the superfamily of potassium channel proteins containing two pore-forming P domains. The gene product forms an outwardly rectifying channel sensitive to extracellular pH and inhibited by acidification. It is also referred to as an acid-sensitive potassium channel and is activated by anesthetics such as halothane and isoflurane. Although three transcripts are detected in northern blots, sequence confirmation for transcript variants is not yet available.
