This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of all alternative forms of human CD45 antigen (Leukocyte Common Antigen), a 180–220 kDa single-chain type I transmembrane protein expressed at high levels on all cells of hematopoietic origin, except erythrocytes and platelets.
Target Information
CD45 (LCA, leukocyte common antigen) is a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) expressed ubiquitously in all nucleated hematopoietic cells, comprising approximately 10% of all surface proteins in lymphocytes.
It is absent on non-hematopoietic cell lines and tissues. CD45 glycoprotein is crucial in lymphocyte development and antigen signaling, regulating Src-family kinases and JAK kinases, and playing roles in integrin-mediated signaling, apoptosis, and immunological function modulation.
Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing, differing in extracellular domains but sharing identical transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains.
